What’s New at MOHAI

We are thrilled to welcome you to MOHAI! Here are some important things to know as you plan your visit:

Reserve/Purchase Tickets

Masks

Masks are encouraged and visitors are welcome to wear them for their personal safety and comfort. We have disposable masks available at the admissions desk.

Online Tickets

Walk-up visitors are always welcome, or you may purchase tickets online for the date of your visit. Click here to purchase online tickets now

Exhibits and Public Areas

Museum staff are sanitizing surfaces regularly for safety. Hand sanitizing stations are located throughout the museum.

Go Paperless!

Digital versions of a MOHAI Map and Gallery Guide along with an Audio Tour in English and Spanish are available on your mobile device.

Group Visits

Reservations are recommended for adult group visits. Groups of more than 10 people may qualify for admission discounts when you make a reservation. Learn more about group ticketing and plan your visit.

School and Youth Group Visits

Reservations are required for all school and youth group visits. Learn more about Education programs at MOHAI and request a field trip.

Food and Drink

Stop by our on-site café, Gourmondo at MOHAI! Grab a seat and enjoy a variety of fresh, flavorful meals made from locally sourced ingredients. Offerings include coffee and pastries, soups, salads, sandwiches, beer, wine, and even ice cream. MOHAI members save 10%!

You may bring and eat your own food in the Microsoft Lakefront Pavilion on the first floor. Food and drink including water bottles are not allowed in the exhibit and gallery spaces.

MOHAI Mercantile

Visit the MOHAI Mercantile to shop a selection of items from local artists, as well as books, jewelry, and souvenirs. MOHAI members save 15%!

Coat Check and Lockers

A self-serve Coat Check space is available. Limited lockers are available to store items and are sanitized between uses. Please reserve a locker at the museum admissions desk.

Protect Yourself and Others

If you or a member of your party are feeling ill or have been in contact with someone who has exhibited symptoms of COVID 19, please visit at a later date. If you have already purchased your online tickets, please contact us at information@mohai.org to reschedule or request a refund.

What’s New for MOHAI Members

MOHAI Members Are Always Welcome

MOHAI members receive complimentary admission benefit on every visit. This applies to the member and/or any additional named members on the membership account. Tickets are available online or at the museum. To reserve online ticket(s), please sign-in using the button at the top left of the ticketing page to receive your membership benefit at check-out. If you do not yet have an account, you may create one using the Register button, also on the top left of the ticketing page. If you have questions about your membership account or login information, please email membership@mohai.org or call 206.324.1126 ext. 194.

Use Your Guest Passes When Reserving Tickets Online

Select the “Free/Reduced-Price Admission or Pay on Arrival” option from the ticket page to use a guest pass when reserving tickets online. This will reserve the ticket under your name. For entry, you must redeem the hard-copy guest pass to the museum.

Join or Renew Your Membership at the Museum

Visit the admissions desk to become a member or renew your membership. For questions about joining or renewing, please email membership@mohai.org or call 206.324.1126 ext. 194.

Reciprocal Memberships

MOHAI participates in the North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) and Time Travelers programs.

To reserve online tickets when using a reciprocal program benefit, select the “Free/Reduced-Price Admission or Pay on Arrival” option for the number of people that will be using this special rate. This reserves the ticket under your name for no cost. When you arrive to the museum, please have your active participating NARM or Time Travelers member cards ready to show the staff at the admissions desk.

Become a Member After Your Visit

You can apply a portion of your purchased tickets towards membership after your visit with your receipt. The admissions desk and membership staff can review membership options with you and help you join MOHAI as a member.

FAQ: What To Expect At MOHAI

General FAQ

Do I need to show proof of vaccination?

No, MOHAI follows the King County safety recommendations and is not currently requiring proof of vaccination.

Do I have to wear a mask?

Masks are not required; however masks are encouraged and welcome at any time. If you forgot your mask, they are available at the Admissions Desk for your convenience and protection.

What’s going on at the museum on the date of my visit?

Check out our calendar page and list of current exhibits for more information about what you might see during your visit.

Are special exhibits included in admission?

Admission includes special exhibits except during Free First Thursday hours (5-8 pm on the first Thursday of the month). During free hours, you may purchase tickets to special exhibits for a discounted amount.

Where do I go when I arrive at the museum?

The front doors of the museum are on the West side of the building overlooking the grass of Lake Union Park.

Are pre-purchased online tickets required?

Online tickets are not required.

Can I get a walk-up ticket?

Yes, we are happy to welcome walk-up visitors.

Can my ticket purchase be applied to a membership?

Yes, the staff at the admissions desk can walk you through the membership options and apply a portion of your pre-purchased tickets to the membership price.

Is reduced-price admission available?

Yes. In addition to our regular admission rates, we take part in a number of programs that offer free or reduced-price admissions to the museum. More details on these programs can be found on our Plan a Visit page under “Community Access”.

To use a free or reduced-price admission program when reserving tickets online, select the “Free/Reduced-Price Admission or Pay on Arrival” option. When you arrive at the museum, you will be asked to present your credentials, coupon, or guest pass.

I’m not sure if this coupon or pass applies.

Please email information@mohai.org for questions about our reduced-price admission programs. The staff at the admissions desk can also answer questions about applicable reduced-price admission rates.

Do I need to create an account to purchase or reserve tickets?

No. If you are not reserving tickets as a member, you do not need to create an account.

Do I need to print my ticket?

No, you may present your ticket barcode on your phone screen or on paper. Museum staff can also locate your ticket through the name of the purchaser.

I didn’t receive the ticket in my email.

Check your email spam filter or allow emails from the mohai.org domain. You can also email information@mohai.org and we can check the status of the ticket or re-send the email. If you believe the transaction went through properly, staff at the museum can also locate the tickets when you arrive.

Can I still use my online ticket if I miss my visit date?

Yes, if you contact us within one week after your scheduled visit date, we can refund or reschedule your visit. After one week past your scheduled visit, your purchase is no longer refundable or reschedulable.

How long will it take to visit MOHAI?

There is so much to see at MOHAI, we hope you will take the time to enjoy it all. We recommend planning for about 2 hours.

Is this museum good for kids?

MOHAI is great for kids! Ask the front desk about available kids’ activities and interactive material.

Can I bring a group of people to MOHAI?

Are there guided tours of the museum?

We are unable to offer guided tours at this time.

Are pets allowed in the museum?

Only service animals are allowed inside the museum.

Does the museum have its own parking?

The parking lot next to the museum is reserved for ADA parking and visitor drop-off. That lot may be accessed by using the call box at the gate. There is public paid parking available in several lots around the museum, including a special $10 all-day rate for visitors parking at the AGC lot.
