Maker Day: DIY Portrait-Making

This event has passed.

Work with teaching artist and maker Thaddeus Jurczynski to create realistic portrait art using a mix of craft supplies and technology!  Visitors are encouraged to bring a photo of themselves, a family member, or – in honor of MOHAI’s newest exhibit It’s Raining Cats and Dogs – even a pet to turn into a stunning work of art; the process is simple and all materials are provided. Visitors can also have their photo taken on the spot to create a self-portrait from their museum visit.

Location: MOHAI

Cost: Included with museum admission

Attend Not Your Princess to meet contemporary artists and scholars who resist colonial narratives, shatter stereotypes, and celebrate Native culture.

This free program is part of the Beyond the Frame, a community wide-initiative revisiting the photographs of Edward Curtis and Native American identity, race and resilience, and art and culture. Complimentary childcare provided with registration.
