Fire Day Returns to MOHAI Sunday, October 1

September 21, 2017

Hosted by MOHAI and the Seattle Fire Department, this annual event features fire safety activities, hands-on artifacts and more!

Fire Day

Oct. 1, 10 am – 2 pm

WHAT: Join the Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) for a fun day learning about fire safety, past and present during Seattle Fire Day. MOHAI has partnered with the Seattle Fire Department for this popular annual event that includes demonstrations, fire engine tours and much more.

WHEN: Oct. 1, 10 am to 2 pm

WHERE: MOHAI 860 Terry Ave N., Seattle

DETAILS: Young firefighters-in-training will love everything about this family-friendly event, co-presented with the Seattle Fire Department. Try on gear, learn fire safety tips and tricks, and even climb aboard a real working fire engine or fire boat! Kids can also explore hands-on artifacts, historic fire equipment, and meet local fire fighters. Activities include fun fire safety lessons, firefighter story time and arts and crafts.

This program is offered concurrently with the Classic Workboat Show in Lake Union Park; be sure to visit the working fire boat, historic fire boat Duwamish, and other working vessels from across Puget Sound!

Schedule of Events

MOHAI’s Grand Atrium
10 am – 2 pm: Enjoy hands-on-history, craft activities and fire safety activities.

10:30 am, 11:15 am, 12 noon, 12:45 pm, and 1:30 pm: Firefighters will read a story and bunk in their gear.

Lake Union Park
10 am – 2 pm: Ask-a-firefighter at the fire engine, see the Last Resort’s antique fire engine, examine the historic fire boat Duwamish and visit a working fire boat.

HOW: Free Grand Atrium admission during the hours of this event (regular admission rates apply for access to upper galleries). Regular admission rates are $19.95 (adults), $15.95 (seniors 62 and over), $13.95 (military and students with ID), free for children 14 and under (when accompanied by an adult) and MOHAI members.
