Yes. Your facility rental includes a limited number of resources, including: twenty 60” round tables, twenty 6’ x 30” buffet tables, fourteen 30” round bistro tables, and 180 folding chairs. Start time depends entirely on headcount and spaces used. Since MOHAI is a public museum, large events that are held in public spaces such as the Faye G. Allen Grand Atrium, Boeing Centennial Terrace, or full facility/buyout, may begin no earlier than 6:30 pm for private guest entry. These parameters are set to allow for appropriate time to setup the venue after our public closure of 5 pm. For smaller events (<100 people) taking place in non-public spaces such as the Microsoft Lakefront Pavilion and/or Conference rooms, full daytime rentals may begin as early as 8 am. You may refer to our online events page to explore space descriptions and capacities.
You will need to choose from among our list of exclusive caterers only. Current MOHAI policy precludes the use of any catering service outside of this list. MOHAI’s Events Management team would be happy to make recommendations from our list if needed.
No. MOHAI does not allow self-catering or potluck meals. Please select from among our exclusive caterers for food and beverage services.
Many of our caterers can subcontract with kosher/halal providers and kosher kitchens. We will ask that you contact our exclusive caterers directly to make inquiries about these arrangements.
Event requests and date availability searches can be made by completing our event request form. Given the nature of our facility and number of requests we receive, our calendar is closely supervised by our Events Management team. We will review and respond to each request individually, generally within two business days.
Sometimes. Please note that gallery access refers to the exhibit spaces located above the 1st floor.
Since MOHAI is located in the middle of a public park, we do not have reserved parking onsite. For evening events, however, clients may choose to contract with our exclusive valet partner, Four Park Avenue Valet. For self-parking, MOHAI visitors and event guests can park at the nearby AGC building and the museum will provide validations for a reduced per-car flat rate (currently $10). There are also nearby parking lots that offer reduced rates after 5 pm. Please take a look at our directions and parking page for a map and area options.
For guests with mobility issues, MOHAI can provide limited onsite parking spaces for those with an ADA placard. Please refer to our directions for ADA parking.
MOHAI is able to host wedding receptions only.
MOHAI does not have jurisdiction over the use of Lake Union Park, which is overseen by the City of Seattle Department of Parks & Recreation. We recommend you contact Seattle Parks and Recreation directly to learn more.
Our neighbors at the Center for Wooden Boats oversee moorage at the park. Please contact CWB at info@cwb.org for further information or to make arrangements.
For birthday parties of 10 or more guests, we would encourage booking a group visit which would extend a discounted rate for adult admission to the museum. Children ages 14 years or younger are regularly extended free admission. MOHAI does not have appropriate private space that can be rented for children’s birthday parties. However, our public café can provide table seating on a first-come, first-served basis, and informal picnics and gatherings often occur outside during the summer in Lake Union Park. Please do not bring cakes, balloons, or outside food and beverage into any spaces at the museum.
Yes and no. MOHAI does host high school proms. Please feel free to contact the MOHAI Event Management team at events@mohai.org for further information and prom guidelines. MOHAI does not host student groups for university dances or socials.
