Artificial Intelligence: Your Mind & The Machine is the first traveling museum exhibit in the United States to focus on the evolution and potential of artificial intelligence. Opening at MOHAI on October 15, 2022, this exhibit explores what artificial intelligence (AI) is, how it works, what it can do, and what it might become.
The exhibit presents the current science and technology that underlies AI from machine learning to voice recognition. Visitors will experience an up-close look at what thinking machines are and investigate how AI will be part of their future—as end users and even as developers.
Hailed as the ultimate future technology, AI is in the headlines, in our computing devices, and is a pervasive topic when pondering our future. AI is at once exciting, wonderous, and praised as it is mysterious, misunderstood, and feared. Making its West Coast premiere at MOHAI, the Artificial Intelligence exhibit is especially relevant to Seattle, where AI is deeply embedded in our recent history and a significant factor in our region’s future.

Created by The Relayer Group, Artificial Intelligence: Your Mind & The Machine shows visitors how artificial intelligence is relevant to their lives right now. The exhibit demonstrates how the human brain goes through the process of learning, and how that is different from trying to teach a machine to “think.” Using games and puzzles, visitors try to figure out the best solutions to simple and not-so-simple tasks. Humans learn many skills through trial-and-error and repetition. AI does the same thing by using math.
With hands-on interactives, touchscreens, and examples from history and popular culture, visitors will engage with actual applications and videos that demonstrate AI and explain how it works.
Artificial Intelligence: Your Mind & The Machine opens at MOHAI on October 15, 2022.
Artificial Intelligence: Your Mind & The Machine appeals to visitors of all ages, presenting technology in easy-to-understand terms with accessible games and hands-on interactives. In the exhibit, kids and adults explore what “smart machines” are and how they work. They also learn that the concept of man-made intelligence, popularized by Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein,” has been around for thousands of years.
