Hep Cat Ball

Swing into a jazz party at MOHAI! Celebrate the landmark exhibit, Seattle on the Spot: The Photographs of Al Smith, with 1940s-style live jazz, dancing, and performances.

Put on your finest vintage attire—you could win the costume contest! (Looking for ideas? Check out our outfit suggestions download at the bottom of this page.)

Enjoy activities throughout the night inspired by Al Smith’s incredible photography, including a photo booth and scavenger hunt, live music performed by the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra with singer Gail Pettis, and dance performances by Kutt’n’Up Entertainment.

Ticket includes exhibit access and hors d’oeuvres, drinks are available for purchase. The Hep Cat Ball is all ages.

Presented in conjunction with the Langston Hughes African American Film Festival, through collaborations with the Central District Forum for Arts and Ideas and LANGSTON.

Cost: $20 for MOHAI members and Langston Hughes African American Film Festival ticket holders / $35 general public
